I followed Ezzie into the classroom, clouded faintly in the musk of forty sweaty teenagers who cursed the school administration daily for the lack of air conditioning. Ezzie was uncharacteristically quiet on his way to his seat in the back of the room.
Posters of the periodic table, hanging motivational cats, and Einstein quotes littered the classroom walls, made all the more cramped by the row of phosphorus-stained lab tables assembled behind us. Ezzie glared at me from his seat.
